IC packaging is at risk within 24 hours of leaving the moisture barrier bags (MBBs). They continuously absorb moisture from the humidity in the air, which leads to microcracks during reflow heating.

Storage of sensitive surface-mounted components at low humidity in accordance with IPC/JEDEC J-STD-033D. To avoid microcracks, ICs and LEDs containing moisture can be baked or stored in McDry.
Electrostatic discharges destroy electronic devices. To prevent this, antistatic measures are applied to Mcdry and McDRY in accordance with IEC61340-5-1.
Mcdry is recommended for the storage of IC packaging after opening bags with a moisture barrier. As specified by IPC/JEDEC J-STD-033D.
Calibration of the hygrometer
How to calibrate
During the drying cabinet inspection of MSL components, only the humidity value of the hygrometer can be checked for the humidity value of 5%RH or less in the drying cabinet. Therefore, to confirm that the value of the hygrometer used is accurate, please, calibrate the hygrometer at a humidity value of 5 % RH. This is done approximately once a year.
How is calibration carried out?
The manufacturer also performs a calibration at a point humidity of 5%RH. While your hygrometer is being calibrated, we will support you with an alternative hygrometer so that you have no downtime.
A calibration certificate for the hygrometer is required, especially at the time of your audit. If you are a European or American company, we will also submit a calibration certificate in English.
Troubleshooting for McDry drying cabinets
Is the power connected?
Check the display on the front.
A green LED should be visible.
Is the correct voltage being used?
Incorrect voltage can cause damage,
which can lead to a non-functioning system.
Speak to your technical personnel.

Was there a power surge in your system?
A power surge may have damaged your system. Try unplugging everything and restarting the system. After 5 minutes, the system should start running again and the humidity should drop continuously.
Are the moisture meter and switch F set to "ON"?
Both switches must be switched on. You will find them on the front of the device.
Is the moisture meter correctly calibrated?
It is recommended to calibrate the moisture meter once a year.
Is an LED flashing on the moisture meter display?
A low battery will result in a flashing LED and the system may not work properly.
The average battery life is 1 year.
Are there any physical problems with your device?
Check the seals, all sides of the appliance and all attached elements for damage indicating a malfunction.
